Red Eyed Rooster

Old Time Music Blog

I’ll rise when the rooster crows,
I’ll rise when the rooster crows,
I’m going back south where the sun shines hot,
Down where the sugar cane grows…

Upon receiving pink slips from CMT/MTV Networks in the fall of 2008, two handsome young Southern gentlemen conspired one evening over a few stiff drinks. In steadfast agreement that true American culture had been both homogenized and marginalized by commercialized trends, the boys were burdened with guilt for their contributions towards this societal windfall. With plenty of free time on their hands, they concluded that retributions must be made. Rather of building a museum to honor the past, though, they decided to lead a parade into the future and welcome others to march along with them. Thus Red Eyed Rooster was initially conceived….

Based in Music City U.S.A, Redeyed Rooster was launched in the summer of 2010 by Lynn Edwards and Brian “Buck” Buchanan. Their mission is simple yet daunting: To save America’s musical heritage. While some might call this the preservation of tradition, the boys here at Red Eyed Rooster liken themselves to cultural explorers. Armed with a camera, a computer, an adventurous spirit and occasional jar of moonshine, they are determined to find culture in the cracks of the American sidewalk and present it to you in unabashed glory..

Assisted and inspired by the creative community whose work and likeness grace these pages, Red Eyed Rooster guarantees to deliver quality content and promote events that you might not find elsewhere. Please visit often for enlightenment and entertainment, tune in to the Old Time Radio and support the talented folks in the Coop. After all; without your support, this mission is futile!

Comments, suggestions and monetary donations are all welcome and will be graciously appreciated.
